Hikes are back in 2022! To ensure the safety of all participants, we will be requiring advanced registration and limiting the number of participants on each hike. Registration for a given hike will start no more than a month ahead of time. A registration link is provided at bottom of this page and also on our facebook page.
The SGPA Hiking Committee leads over a dozen guided hikes each year. All hikes are free and open to the public, and require advanced registration unless otherwise noted. Most hikes involve traveling over uneven, rocky terrain, possibly with a degree of rock scrambling. As such, hikers should be in good physical condition. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable, supportive shoes with good traction. Snacks and water in a day pack are recommended. Out of consideration for other hikers, dogs are not permitted on any hikes.
All hikes leave from the kiosk at the park entrance. The entrance to Sleeping Giant is on the north side of Mt. Carmel Avenue in north Hamden, about 0.5 miles east of Whitney Avenue.
