SUMMARY:The Great Give 2023 - Support SGPA
DESCRIPTION:The Sleeping Giant Park Association invites you to support the Giant during the 2023 Great Give. This 36-hour online\, community-wide giving event was created by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven to raise visibility and resources for nonprofits serving Greater New Haven. Thanks to the generosity of thousands of donors\, the efforts of participating organizations\, and sponsorships\, last year’s event raised an impressive $3.46 million for a record number of 510 local nonprofits. \nLast year\, SGPA raised over $1\,000 to support tree planting efforts in areas of the park that were damaged by the 2018 tornados. This year\, we are back at it. The first $5\,000 raised through the 2023 Great Give will be used to purchase\, plant\, and maintain new trees near the park entrance. Any additional funds will be used to support the many other projects and programs of SGPA. Read more on our Great Give page. \nView more information on SGPA’s Great Give page >> \nDonate here on April 3 and 4 >>

SUMMARY:Forest Bathing - Shinrin Yoku
DESCRIPTION:The Sleeping Giant Park Association invites you to experience Shinrin Yoku\, also known a “forest bathing”\, at Sleeping Giant State Park. She is a former clinical supervisor at University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine\, and guest lecturer at UCONN Medical School and Quinnipiac College. \nShinrin Yoku\, also known as Forest Bathing is a “gateway drug”; i.e. a gateway to nourishing our hearts and mind as we walk mindfully and in silence together. Nature is often seen as something outside of us\, but we are Nature\, in need of more green time and less screen time. Green time is an essential part of Naturopathic protocols to attain and maintain wellness. Forest Bathing is an accessible and affordable way to reap the benefits of what movement\, fresh air and no electronic devices have to offer. \n>> REGISTER HERE <<\nNOTE: If you signed up for the October Forest Bathing Hike\, which was cancelled due to inclement weather\, you will not need to re-register. \nThis hike will cover a limited distance\, and is suited for all hiking abilities. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable\, supportive shoes. A day pack with water\, sunscreen\, and any other essentials is recommended. \nOut of consideration for other participants\, dogs are not permitted on SGPA hikes. All hikes leave from the kiosk at the park’s main entrance\, unless otherwise noted.
