Trail Maintenance
A dedicated group of volunteers, known as the SGPA Trail Crew, is responsible for maintaining the 32 miles of backcountry trails at Sleeping Giant State Park.
Trail Crew projects typically involve clearing fallen trees, removing litter, repainting trail markers, constructing trail infrastructure to prevent erosion and increase accessibility, and otherwise improving or relocating trails.
Following the tornadoes in 2018, the Trail Crew cleared hundreds of fallen trees and branches, ensuring that the trails were safe and passable when the park reopened.

The Trail Crew always welcomes new members!
Volunteers meet in the parking lot at 9:15 on Sunday mornings, April through November. The work sessions usually last for about two hours (weather permitting), and there are a variety of tasks suited for all abilities.
SGPA will supply any tools or equipment needed. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes, dress appropriately for the weather, and bring work gloves and water.
