CT Trails Day – History Of Sleeping Giant

CT Trails Day is a statewide celebration of Connecticut’s incredible trail system, held annually on the first weekend in June. Organized by our friends at the Connecticut Forest & Park Association, this event invites people of all ages to explore, learn, and connect with the outdoors through hundreds of guided hikes and programs across the state.
Join the Sleeping Giant Park Association for a guided History of Sleeping Giant hike, where you’ll explore one of Connecticut’s most beloved landscapes while uncovering the stories that shaped it—from early quarrying operations to the grassroots conservation efforts that led to the creation of the park. Along the way, you’ll visit historic quarry sites and learn how community advocacy helped preserve the “Giant” for future generations.
