Slumbering Behemoth Release with Counter Weight
The Sleeping Giant Park Association is excited to partner once again with Counter Weight Brewing Co. for a special event celebrating the Giant—and supporting the work we do to protect and care for the park!
On Friday, November 13, Counter Weight will host Slumbering Behemoth Day, featuring the release of its Slumbering Behemoth Imperial Stout, a beer whose name pays tribute to our favorite sleeping mountain. Best of all, a portion of sales of Slumbering Behemoth will be donated to SGPA, helping support our ongoing conservation, trail maintenance, education, and stewardship efforts at Sleeping Giant State Park.
SGPA will be on site with a special Pop-Up Trading Post from 4:30-8:30, offering a variety of Sleeping Giant merchandise, including shirts, blankets, hats, tote bags, and more. With the holidays approaching, it’s a great opportunity to pick up gifts for the Giant-lovers in your life—or show off a little local pride yourself. A portion of merchandise sales also supports SGPA’s mission.
We’ll also have an informational table where visitors can learn more about the park’s fascinating history, our current projects and programs, and opportunities to get involved as a volunteer or member.
Counter Weight has a full day of festivities planned, including the release of Slumbering Behemoth on draft and in four-packs, special cask variants beginning at 4 PM, flash tattoos by ONRYO Tattoo Studio, and live music from Neil Young tribute band Real Young & Lazy Horse. Admission to the brewery is free, though the live music is a ticketed event.
Whether you’re stopping by for the beer release, doing a little holiday shopping, or simply interested in learning more about Sleeping Giant, we hope you’ll come say hello. It should be a great day celebrating local beer, local history, and a landmark that means so much to our community!
